applied improvisation workshop

We combine improvisation and psychology by translating them into business practice.

I'MPRO IMPRO is an organization that promotes the use of improvisation techniques in the professional world. We develop social competence, emotional intelligence and the ability to act effectively without a pattern in a changing and uncertain environment - while having fun.

applied improvisation workshop

Applied improvisation is a workshop method that develops emotional intelligence and soft skills such as collaboration, innovation and effective communication.

It derives from stage theatrical improvisation, where actors and improvisers face constant uncertainty and change - just like teams, employees and managers in modern organizations.

That's why applied improvisation workshops are used by companies all over the world, as well as leading Universities training future leaders in MBA courses (e.g. Stanford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology or University of California at Los Angeles).

we don't stop developing

We gained our experience in improvisation at courses in Poland and at theaters in the United States - ImprovOlympic in Los Angeles, Second City and Annoyance Theatre in Chicago. We continue to develop in this field by taking courses taught by instructors from around the world.

we are part of a global community

We are members of the Applied Improvisational Network bringing together trainers of applied improvisation from around the world. Together we exchange experiences and expand this field by promoting its practical use in business and private life.

we use scientific research

Participating in improvisation classes can change how our brains work, develop our creativity and increase our tolerance for uncertainty, according to research. See scientific studies that shed light on the effects of attending applied improvisation workshops.

who is leading the workshop

Method recommended by business

Now, more than ever, organizations need managers and employees who can think "hot" and experiment outside of clearly delineated patterns. Improvisation is not an innate skill, it can be learned and should be developed. Those leaders who assume otherwise will be left behind.

Nowadays, being a leader is stressful. Every day you have to analyze and react to the ever-changing reality. On good days, everything works as it should. But on worse days, things fall apart before your eyes. Anxiety is an inherent component of uncertainty, and you can't escape it. But you can accept it and turn it into positive action. This is what improvisation will help you do.

To be an effective manager you need to be able to build a connection between what you know and what you don't know. The latter is much easier to find and identify when you are outside your comfort zone. That's why improv classes can be found today at top business schools such as Duke, MIT, UCLA and Stanford. And last July, the University of Notre Dame joined the ranks with its Executive MBA.

Unproductive meetings, poor leadership and poor communication are no joke. In contrast, some organizations are using comedy to help their teams notice and correct deficits in these fields. These companies hire improv coaches to develop communication, cooperation and leadership skills in employees.

Companies such as Google, Farmers Insurance and Dow Chemical use improvisation techniques to develop creativity, collaboration and and communication. This is crucial because MBA graduates leave school well equipped with hard skills but no longer necessarily soft skills.

Managers focused on developing creativity often use the popular phrase "go outside the box." They do this to encourage employees to look for original solutions. But improviser Patricia Ryan Madson has a better idea: "See what your schema is and look at it with fresh, innovative eyes.

Feedback from our workshop participants:

I wholeheartedly recommend improv classes. They helped me understand that not everything always has to go exactly my way, sometimes I should open myself up to other options and ideas from other peopleThe impro classes are one of the best methods I've learned so far to integrate a team, have fun together, and at the same time think about how we can work better together and open ourselves up to the creativity of the team. I recommend it to any team.

Alexander Pruzinski, Head of Service Excellence

I have had the opportunity to attend workshops conducted by I'MPRO IMPRO at Google twice (offline and online). Each time I was impressed with the way Bart opens people up during these sessions. I would definitely recommend these classes to any company that wants to create an open environment and creative teams that think out of the box!

Magdalena Bornos-PaciorekIndustry Manager, Google

The 2-hour impro workshop with I'MPRO IMPRO elicited more WOW than many a full-scale, full-day training. Highly recommended!

Agata Szczepańska-Jochemczyk
Customer Experience Manager Corporate Banking Area

"I've had the opportunity to attend various workshops dedicated to the art of presentation, but none has provided as much value as impro: it gives you the tools to control stress when presenting, frees you from clinging to a script, and opens you up to unpredictability. In my opinion 11/10."

Cezary Kulesza, Senior Strategic Consultant at Zenith

"If you have any contact with people (project team, client, your team), I recommend this workshop wholeheartedly. The atmosphere is great, the presenter knows what he is doing and is very human about it. There is a lot of knowledge taken from real experiences. And the whole advantage of this workshop is that you feel first-hand how the various communication patterns of thinking work, rather than reading about it in an article. As a designer and team leader, it was a very developing experience for me."

Pawel Hawrylak, Head of Design, Monterail

Supposedly, we all know that positive feedback gives wings and criticism cuts them off, but at Bartek's workshop you can experience this in practice. Theory alone is not enough."

Agnieszka Berlinska, deputy editor-in-chief of KUKBUK magazine

Very interesting workshop on team building, cooperation and integration. Exercises were nicely chosen and professionally discussed. Great attentiveness of the presenter to the participants. I recommend to conduct in any company.

Agnieszka Janicka Senior Sales Specialist at mBank S.A.

"I had the pleasure of participating in an online impro workshop. Bartek's professionalism and strong commitment was shared by all participants. A great advantage of the classes was that all the conclusions of the exercises Bart translated into business practice. I recommend cooperation with I'MPRO IMPRO."

Michal Pruchnicki Head of Paid Social, e-obowie.pl SA

As the head of the design department, I saw how good an impact the improv workshops held had. Immediately after them we had a Design Sprint and while working on projects, a total new quality and a mass of ideas emerged. Since we now work remotely, it's also a perfect tool to integrate people we haven't seen before.

Mariusz Dobrzanski, UX Team Leader, Bold

I strongly recommend impro workshops as a great tool to exercise creativity, work better in a team, come up with ideas out of the box, and as an opportunity to test your skills under the guidance of an experienced instructor.

Szymon Paterek, Brand Manager, GSK
